“S“They are unprecedented exercises and do not hide the reason why they are organized”, said Russian Presidency spokesman Dmitri Peskov, adding that Russia does not feel intimidated and “knows NATO’s military infrastructure”, which he described as “a alliance created for confrontation”.

“This proves once again that Russia was right when its President, Vladimir Putin, spoke of our deep concerns regarding our security during this slow process of bringing NATO’s military infrastructures closer to our borders,” Peskov explained.

On Wednesday, NATO began the largest war simulation organized by the Atlantic Alliance since the end of the Cold War, the military exercise ‘Steadfast Defender 2024’, with a view to defending Europe.

The ‘Steadfast’, which in the coming months will mobilize up to 90 thousand soldiers on both sides of the Atlantic, should, among other military objectives, verify the Alliance’s ability to quickly mobilize and transport North American troops to “strengthen the defense of Europe” , according to a statement from the organization.

These military maneuvers – which will last for several months, from the Atlantic to NATO’s eastern flank – are expected to take the form of a conflict scenario against an “adversary of comparable size”, according to the Alliance’s terminology, which in this way designates Russia.
