O Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba will visit China at the invitation of Beijing from Tuesday to Thursday. The main objective of the visit will be to “look for ways to stop Russia’s aggression” and China’s role in a “stable and just peace”.

“The main topic of discussion will be the search for ways to stop Russia’s aggression and China’s possible role in achieving a stable and just peace.”the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said, as quoted by the Reuters news agency.

The visit will take place from July 23 to 25 and Kuleba will discuss bilateral ties between the two countries with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, at a time when Beijing is seen as close to the Kremlin.

In May, the governments of Brazil and China called for a political solution to the war in Ukraine, in a joint declaration that aims to establish conditions for a return to peace.

Reducing the escalation of the war and creating conditions for political dialogue are the basis of the proposal drawn up during a visit to China by the special advisor to the presidency and former head of Brazilian diplomacy, Celso Amorim, who met with the Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The proposal came weeks before the Ukraine Peace Conference, which took place in Switzerland on June 15 and 16. The event was attended by around 70 heads of state, but neither China nor Brazil were present.
