In addition to validating the results of the presidential election that took place in Venezuela on July 28, 2024, the court also requested the Prosecutor’s Office investigate and charge the opposition for allegedly usurping CNE functions by publishing results.

Machado thanked several international leaders, including the presidents of Chile and Uruguay, who rejected Maduro’s victory in Venezuela.

“The action of the regime’s Supreme Court confirms what we all know: it is an arm of repression, without independence and without jurisdiction in this matter. “They usurp functions of the CNE in order to legitimize the ‘illegitimate’. They are making mistakes again. They are sinking and isolating themselves more every day,” responded the opposition leader, who said that they will respect popular sovereignty.

The United States and the European Union also reject Maduro’s proclamation for a third six-year term.
