The repression in Venezuela does not stop. In the last hours Journalist Carmela Longo was arrested along with her son. Opposition leader María Corina Machado has called for a new outing on the streets.

In a video you can see the moment when members of the Venezuelan National Police detain the journalist Carmela Longo and her son took a computer and left the place escorted by a private vehicle.

In Venezuela, more than 1,600 people have been arrested since the presidential elections on July 28. Relatives wait outside prisons to receive news of their loved ones.

“Mr. President, please, I ask you on behalf of all those mothers who have innocent children, please help us.”said the mother of one of the detainees.

Xiomara Barreto, mother of journalist Ana Carolina Guaita, arrested five days ago, He denounced that the government is holding his daughter hostage.

“You are going to hurt an innocent girl, because They couldn’t catch me, they are accusing me of terrible atrocities just for being an opponent,” Barreto said.

Opposition bloc thanks Colombia and Brazil

Meanwhile, the largest opposition bloc in Venezuela, the Democratic Unitary Platform, assessed that Colombian President Gustavo Petro and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, insisted on the need to disseminate the minutes and evidence of the elections held on July 28 in Venezuela.

For her part, the opposition leader Maria Colina Machado called for people to take to the streets again, saying that a deed kills a sentencea day that will coincide with the first month of the elections.

The repression does not end in the political sphere either. The Venezuelan Prosecutor’s Office accused opposition leader Edmundo González of instigating disobedience of the law, criminal association and conspiracy, and summoned him for this Monday, August 26, 2024, at 10:00 am
