Spanakopita (Torta)

Ingredients

  • 1 package of puff pastry
  • 1 bunch of spinach, cleaned and drained
  • ½ cup chopped green onion
  • 250 grams of crushed Feta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 lightly beaten eggs
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 2 tablespoons chopped dill
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Nutmeg to taste

Preparation Mode

  1. Heat the olive oil and sauté the spinach with the chives.
  2. Add the cheese, eggs, dill, parsley, black pepper and nutmeg to taste. Mix well.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry, following the manufacturer’s instructions.
  4. Line the bottom and sides of a medium ovenproof dish (20cm x 30cm) greased with half the dough and distribute the spinach filling.
  5. Cover with the other half of the dough and brush with the beaten egg.
  6. Press the edges of the dough with a fork and bake in the oven at 200ºC for about 30 minutes or until the surface is golden.
  7. Serve hot or cold.

Yields 6 servings.
The amount of puff pastry is 300 grams.
The dill is an aromatic herb, It has a mild flavor and is often confused with fennel. Also known as dill or dill.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups of spinach leaves
  • 2 green onion stalks

Preparation Mode

  1. Remove the dough from the freezer to thaw.
  2. Place the spinach leaves (already washed and dried) in a bowl and cover with boiling water.
  3. Let it cook for 5 minutes.
  4. After this time, take a cold water bath and squeeze to remove all the water from the leaves.
  5. Chop the spinach and chives. Book.
  6. Crumble the cheese, which can be goat or sheep.
  7. In a bowl, beat the eggs with a fork, season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
  8. Add the cheese, spinach and chives. Book.
  9. Preheat the oven to low temperature.
  10. Grease a baking tray with butter and set aside.
  11. Cut each sheet of filo dough in two lengthwise.
  12. Brush one of the doughs with melted butter. Place the other dough on top and brush with butter again.
  13. Distribute two tablespoons of filling in the corner of the strips, in a triangular shape, folding the dough in this direction until the strip of dough ends, completely closing the pastry.
  14. Place on baking sheet.
  15. Brush the top with egg yolk beaten with a tablespoon of water.
  16. Repeat the procedure until you run out of ingredients.
  17. Bake for approximately 30 minutes.
