According to Argentina’s La Nación newspaper, Peter Kennedy fled Colombia on July 18, shortly before his international arrest warrant was issued. After a brief stay in Brazil, he arrived in Argentina on September 9, entering from Misiones. He settled in Córdoba, where he married a young woman 35 years younger and also had a home in Recoleta.
The arrest occurred in Mendoza at 1700, in Belgrano, thanks to an operation by the Federal Investigation Division of Fugitives and Extraditions of the Interpol Department. Police sources reported that Kennedy had registered several addresses in Argentina, which made it easier to locate him. A detective pointed out that their marriage had been a strategy to obtain residency in the country.
The key to his capture was a contact at a notary’s office on Rodríguez Peña Street, which allowed his mobile phone to be geolocated. At the time of his arrest, Kennedy attempted to pass himself off as an Austrian citizen, although authorities are verifying his true identity as he used various documents.
The Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, described Kennedy as a “true monster” and assured that “this bastard will pay for every aberrant act he did.” His capture underlines the commitment of Argentine authorities in the fight against the sexual exploitation of minors in the region.
