A report warning about the situation on Earth was presented at the United Nations. This is the first assessment of the planet’s overall health. The study found that humanity has exceeded the limits required to ensure its existence.

This study, released during World Climate Week in New York, It analyses nine factors such as the depletion of the ozone layer, the change in fresh water, ocean acidification, among others.
According to the report, humanity has breached six of the nine planetary boundaries, putting Earth well outside the safe and operational space for humanity.
“The state of the world is unsustainable”: UN
“First, the state of our world is unsustainable; we cannot continue like this. Second, the challenges we face are solvable, but that requires us to ensure that international problem-solving mechanisms actually solve them.”said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Ocean acidification, the result of the constant increase in carbon dioxide emissions from the burning of fossil fuels such as oil and coal, is one of the limits that have been exceeded, threatening marine ecosystems.
A ninth threshold, related to concentrations of small particles in the air that can cause heart and lung disease, is close to being dangerous.
The researchers said the risk showed signs of decreasing slightly, due to the efforts of several countries to improve air quality, with electric mobility.
Experts agree that these tipping points, if crossed, would lead to irreversible and catastrophic results for billions of people and many future generations on Earth.
