What is a green card?

The green card, also officially known as Permanent Resident Card, is a document that allows to people who are not U.S. citizens to live and work in the country legally and indefinitely.

Professions that grant you permanent residence in the United States

Although obtaining this document is not a simple process, there are certain professions that can make it easier. The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has defined a number of categories professionals who can apply for permanent residence, divided into three groups:

Third category

• Skilled workers: jobs that require a minimum of two years of training or work experience.
• Professionals: jobs that require a U.S. bachelor’s degree or its foreign equivalent.
• Unskilled workers: jobs that require less than two years of training or experience.
