VSeveral explosions were heard this Monday in the city of Isfahan, Iran, at a time when an escalation is expected in the Middle East.

In a statement cited by the publication Al Jazeera, Iranian authorities reported that the noise was the result of exercises being carried out by the Amir Al-Momenin University of Military Science and Technology.

The institution in question is the largest military college of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The Iranian province’s security chief and lawmaker, Mohammad Reza Jannesari, confirmed to Iranian state media that the sound was related to an exercise.

According to Jazeera, IRGC-affiliated media outlets are also circulating a video suggesting a direct attack on Israel. The footage reportedly features Hezbollah flags, which promise that “panic is coming” to Israel. In the footage, dozens of missiles and drones are seen being launched, with the help of the Islamic State. One of the drones is said to be named ‘Jaffa’, the drone that struck a building in Tel Aviv on 19 July, killing one person and injuring ten others.

Also in the last few hours, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, took to social media to share an image depicting a ‘bloodbath’ in which Israeli representatives, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, are present.

“The Zionist regime is not a government. It is a gang, a gang, a bunch of murderers, terrorists,” the image reads, as translated by Jazeera.

It is worth remembering that Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz confirmed on Monday that Iran said it would attack Israel – a message passed on by Hungary. Also today, former US President Donald Trump said that an attack by Iran on Israel would happen tonight.
