VSeveral people were injured this Sunday following an acid attack in a cafe in the city of Bochum, Germany.
Local police said in a statement that “a man entered the cafe at around 3:25 p.m. (2:25 p.m. in Portugal) and poured an acidic liquid over a customer sitting at a table in the outdoor area,” CNN International reported.
The victim was “severely injured”.
A woman, who was sitting at the table with the man, and a waitress also suffered injuries.
In the police action, four police officers and two firefighters – who were in contact with the liquid – were also injured.
The perpetrator fled, but was arrested shortly afterwards near the crime scene.
The reason for the incident is still unclear and a police investigation is ongoing.
