A Al Jazeera news agency cited multiple reports of explosions in the Israeli city of Eilat, allegedly in response to an Israeli attack on the Yemeni port of Hodeida on Saturday.
“From an investigation, it appears that no shots were fired in the city area and consequently no interceptors were launched“, the Israeli army responded.
“There is no fear of a security incident”reads a message on X (formerly Twitter).
The city of Hodeida, in western Yemen, under the control of Houthi rebels, was hit today by air strikes that caused strong explosions.
The attacks, which caused a fire in the port of Hodeida, left “80 people injured, most of them with serious burns”, the Houthi rebels’ health ministry said in a statement.
The Yemen strikes came a day after a drone strike claimed by the Houthis killed one person in Tel Aviv.
For its part, the Israeli Armed Forces announced on the social network Telegram that fighter jets “hit military targets of the terrorist Houthi regime in the area of the port of Hodeida, in Yemen, in response to the hundreds of attacks carried out against the State of Israel in recent months”.
