TikTok stated this Sunday that it is in process of restoring your service in the United States for the guarantees offered to its suppliers by the president-elect of that country, Donald Trump, who will take office on Monday.
“TikTok is in the process of restoring service. We thank President Trump for providing the necessary clarity and assurance to our service providers that they will not face sanctions when providing TikTok to more than 170 million Americans,” the platform said in a statement.
According to him, they will work with the future president on a long term solution that allows its operation in the United States.
TikTok stopped working on Saturday in the United States after the Supreme Court on Friday endorsed a law passed last year by Congress that forced the platform to separate itself from its parent company, the Chinese ByteDance, or face closure.
TikTok’s decision came about an hour and a half before the law went into effect, scheduled for 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time on Sunday (06:01 GMT).
According to the Government of the outgoing president, Joe Biden, TikTok took this step on its own initiative, because after the Supreme Court ruling, the White House announced that the current Executive would not apply the regulations and that compliance would be in the hands of the new Administration.

What proposal did Donald Trump make to try to save TikTok in the United States?
Trump said this Sunday that he will issue an executive order on his first day in office to temporarily allow TikTok to continue operating, adding that would like to see the United States take partial ownership.
“I would like the United States to have a 50% stake in a joint venture. By doing this, We save TikTok, keep it in good hands and allow it to continue growing. Without US approval, there is no TikTok. With our approval, it is worth hundreds of billions of dollars, maybe trillions,” he wrote on his social network, Truth Social.
His choice as National Security Advisor, Michael Waltz, did not rule out this Sunday the possibility of maintaining Chinese ownership as long as there are certain guarantees in force.
“Both things can happen. TikTok can continue to exist, whether in American hands, owned by an American company, or if the data and algorithms are completely protected from Chinese interference. There are several formulas that this can take, but the thing now is to give the president some time to make that decision,” he said, asked if it would be possible for him to maintain Chinese ownership.
The incoming president, Waltz noted, needs “optionality.” “We are working literally in real time with the various technology companies to restore it and give (Trump) some time to save it, but also to protect Americans’ data and protect Americans from any type of foreign interference.”
The new US cabinet, he added, is confident both in being able to save TikTok and in protect Americans and their data, “either through a direct sale or some firewall mechanism to ensure that the data is protected on US soil.”
