This Tuesday, November 26, the United Kingdom ambassador to Colombia, George Hodgson, announced that Colombian citizens will be asked for a visa again
to enter British territory.
From now on, Colombians will have to process the document again to be able to enter the United Kingdom, so here we explain the step by step that you must follow for your visa to be approved.

How to apply for a UK visa?
According to VFS Global, official partner of Visas and Immigration of the United Kingdom, the steps you must follow if you want to apply for the document and travel to British countries are as follows:
1. Do your research
Citizens should visit the United Kingdom Visas and Immigration website (GOV.UK) to verify the type of visa they must apply for and the documents they need to complete the process.
It should be remembered that each visa requires different paperwork, so citizens must verify exactly the type of visa they are going to process. Additionally, if the applicant’s documents are not in English, you must prepare the translation before submitting the visa application.
2. Apply
When you have all the documents that were requested to process your visa, you must return to the Visas and Immigration page to request the document.
3. Pay the document
Once you complete the visa application, you must pay for the document and you will have to pay a surcharge for medical care, if required by your type of visa.
After making the payment, the system will give you a reference number that begins with the letters GWF. It is important that the applicant keep this code very well, since it will be useful if they make any modifications to the application or appointment.
4. Book the appointment
The citizen has completed the procedures and made the payment for his visa on the Visas and Immigration page, he must go to the website of an official Visa and Immigration partner to reserve the appointment at a Visa Application Center, where the biometric data such as fingerprints and a photograph.
5. Upload supporting documents
Once the applicant has booked their UK visa appointment, they must upload the documents to the Visa Application Centre.
These are the documents to apply for the UK visa
- The first page of the applicant’s Visa Application Form
- Annex II
- Employment
- Financial
- Accommodation
- Educational
- Tuberculosis
- Additional documents (copy of passport / remaining pages of application form / any other documents)
- Sponsor details (passport/government issued ID/bank accounts/employment letters/payment receipts/accommodation/sponsor statement/letter of support, any other documents provided by the sponsor
- Evidence of relationship (marriage certificate / birth certificate / proof of contact / travel history, proof of communication or contact)
6. Attend the appointment
Once all the documents have been uploaded, the applicant must attend the appointment they had previously booked. It should be noted that the aspiring citizen cannot send anyone in his or her place.
Important: Don’t forget to bring your passport.
7. Return of documents
After Visas and Immigration has made the decision regarding the visa application, the Visas and Immigration partner company will be contacted so that the citizen can collect their documents.
It is recommended not to approach the Visa Application Center, since the applicant will not be able to collect their documents until a decision has been made regarding their case.
