“I just called the mother of Ross William Ulbright (sic) to let her know that, in honor of her and the Libertarian Movement, which supported me so strongly, it was my pleasure to have signed a full and unconditional pardon for her son, Ross,” Trump said on his Truth social network.

“The scum who worked to convict him were some of the same lunatics who were involved in the modern use of the Government as a weapon against me,” added the Republican, alluding to the federal prosecutors of the southern district of New York, where the trial took place. .
Who is Ross Ulbricht?
Ross Ulbrichtarrested in 2013, was responsible for Silk Road, which for almost three years operated on the so-called ‘dark web’ and functioned as a market for the sale of heroin and cocaine, among other narcotics, and arrived to generate more than 200 million dollars in profits, according to the Federal Prosecutor’s Office.
The website was also the first to accept bitcoin, one of the most popular cryptocurrencies, which made it a cult figure among supporters of these currencies.
This pardon follows the pardon that Trump granted to almost 1,600 defendants for the assault on the Capitol on January 6, 2021, an attack carried out by his supporters who sought to prevent the certification of former President Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 elections.
This same Tuesday, the leaders of the ultranationalist organizations Oath Keepers and Proud Boys, Stewart Rhodes and Enrique Tarrio, respectively, were released, hours after the president signed the aforementioned presidential pardon.
More than 730 people have been convicted for their participation in that attempted insurrection, according to data from the Department of Justice, and about 300 are still awaiting trial, some for violent crimes, such as assaults on police officers.
Four people died in the assault on the Capitol and more than 140 officers were injured.
