The passenger train, which was carrying more than 300 people, failed to stop at a red traffic light, the Railway Safety Inspection Office said. The investigation will now determine whether the cause was human error or a technical failure.
It should be noted that Pardubice was the scene of the worst railway accident in the country’s history, in 1960, when 118 people died and around a hundred were injured in a head-on collision between two passenger trains north of the city.
