“EWe are very close to the moment when we will decide to change the rules of the game against Hezbollah and Lebanon. In a total war, Hezbollah will be destroyed and Lebanon will be hit hard,” Katz said in an official statement and in a message on the social network X.

The head of Hezbollah Hassan “Nasrallah today boasts of having photographed the ports of Haifa, operated by large Chinese and Indian international companies, and threatening to damage them”, accused the Israeli minister to justify his statements.

Previously – and while Amos Hochstein, special envoy of US President Joe Biden, was in Beirut for contacts aimed at defusing tension on the Israeli-Lebanese border – Hezbollah published images that it said were captured by a ‘drone’ of the movement over Haifa, Israel’s great northern port.

In addition to the port of Haifa, the video claimed by Hezbollah includes images of an Israeli naval base, several warships and Navy special forces infrastructure.

In parallel, it reveals what the Lebanese Shiite movement has identified as strategic military installations, areas of the Kiryat Yam locality, or installations of the Iron Dome or David’s Sling air defense systems.

This announcement by the Shiite movement implies not only that Hezbollah flew a ‘drone’ over Israeli territory, but that the device managed to go unnoticed and return to Lebanon unharmed.

Hochstein met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem on Monday, before traveling to neighboring Lebanon.

“The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah has been going on for too long,” he said today in Beirut.

“The situation is ‘serious’ and the United States intends to avoid ‘a large-scale war,'” said Hochstein, who met in the Lebanese capital with the speaker of parliament, Nabih Berri.

Cross-border clashes between Israel and Hezbollah, an ally of Hamas, broke out following the incursion of the Palestinian Islamist movement into Israel on October 7, with an immediate and devastating intervention by the Israeli Army in the Gaza Strip.

Hezbollah claims it has carried out more than 2,100 military operations against Israel since October 8, and last week intensified its attacks against military targets in the north of the country after the death of one of its top commanders in an Israeli airstrike.

More than eight months of violence have caused at least 473 deaths in Lebanon, most of them fighters from the Lebanese Shiite movement, and 92 civilians, according to the AFP news agency.

According to Israel, 15 soldiers and 11 Israeli civilians were killed in the same period.
