Italy will guarantee that the issue of migrants will be discussed at the UN

The government official has repeatedly called on the UN and other bodies to get involved in efforts to stop the flow of migrants from North Africa to Italy.

“Perhaps even Europe is not enough to resolve the issue of migrants, given what is happening in Africa”, said Tajani on Saturday, stressing that “strong action at international level is necessary”.

“NATO, the United States and the UN must be more present and must be part of the solution”, he stressed.

The Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, traveled today to the island of Lampedusa (in the south of the country) together with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, following the worsening of the migration crisis. The small Italian island received more than 10,000 refugees in just three days.
