Estimates of Israel and Palestine total more than 1,100 deaths

SAccording to the ministry, cited by the Spanish agency EFE, among the 413 dead there were 78 minors and 41 women, with 2,300 injured, including 213 children and 140 women.

To these victims are added the more than 700 deaths in the most recent report by the Israeli Ministry of Health, following the attacks launched by the Palestinian Islamic group Hamas on Saturday morning.

In Israeli territory, according to official data released this afternoon, there are still records of at least 2,234 injured people, 365 of them in serious condition.

The high number of deaths confirmed in just over 24 hours is unprecedented in Israel’s history, only comparable to the bloody first Arab-Israeli war of 1948, after the founding of the State of Israel.

Several countries, such as France, Germany, the United States of America, Peru or Nepal, have already indicated that they have national citizens among the victims killed or reported missing in Israel.

The surprise attack launched on Saturday against Israeli territory by Hamas – a group considered terrorist by Israel, the United States and the European Union (EU) – involved the launch of thousands of rockets and the incursion of armed militiamen by land, sea and air .

In response, Israel bombed several Hamas facilities in the Gaza Strip from the air.

Armed clashes continue today, with numerous rockets launched from the Gaza Strip – more than 3,200 since Saturday – and Israeli bombings against hundreds of Hamas targets in the Palestinian enclave that have already completely destroyed several buildings, including the well-known Palestinian Tower, with around 100 homes.

Israeli authorities claimed to have killed 400 militia members in the border area and also indicated that Palestinian militias, led by Hamas, took at least 100 hostages.

The United Nations (UN) estimates that more than 20,000 Palestinians are taking refuge in their 44 schools in the Gaza Strip, to protect themselves from the counterattack by Israeli forces.
