A The truce was supposed to end at 07:00 (05:00 in Lisbon), but, a quarter of an hour before, the Israeli army issued a statement stating that the “operational pause” would continue, “taking into account the efforts of the mediators to continue the process of releasing the hostages” held in the Gaza Strip.
Hamas, for its part, stated that the truce lasted for “a seventh day”.
The extension of the truce until Friday has also been confirmed by mediator Qatar.
“The Palestinian and Israeli parties agreed to extend the humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip for another day,” Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari said in a statement.
