RSF wants Rafah border post open to journalists

EThis crossing point between Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip, and Egypt is controlled by Palestinians and Egyptians.

In the same note, the organization called on the Israeli and Egyptian authorities to “open the gates” of the border post “so that journalists can finally enter and exit on both sides of the border.”

“Journalists who had to move from the North [da Faixa de Gaza] They are now forced by Israel to gather at the border with Egypt, without the possibility of crossing it. On the other hand, international journalists are prevented from entering”, highlighted the organization.

“In two months of war, not a single journalist has been allowed to enter the Gaza Strip through Rafah, which clearly undermines the media’s ability to cover the conflict,” he added.

On the other hand, he recalled that “58 journalists were killed in Gaza, 14 of them while carrying out their duties, by Israeli attacks”.

In retaliation for the October 7 attack, which Israeli authorities claim killed 1,200 people, Israel has promised to “annihilate” Hamas and its army is carrying out bombings in the besieged Palestinian territory, in parallel with a vast ground operation launched in October 27th.

On Tuesday, the Hamas Ministry of Health reported that 16,248 people had died in Israeli bombings in Gaza, 70% of whom were women, children and teenagers.
