Ingredients
- 2 kg of ripe and firm tomatoes
- 2 kg of sugar
- ½ tablespoon lemon zest
- ¼ cup (tea) lemon juice
- ½ kg of apples
Preparation Mode
- Clean the tomatoes, dry them and cut them into pieces.
- Peel, cut the apples into thin slices and cover them with a mixture of water and lemon juice. Reserve.
- Place the tomatoes in a medium saucepan, add the sugar, zest and lemon juice described in the recipe ingredients.
- Place over low heat and cook until all the liquid has reduced and the jam begins to thicken.
- Drain the apples, add them to the pan and cook for approximately 30 minutes.
- Remove and transfer the jam to sterilized refractory jars.
Mom Tips
When shaving the lemon peel; do not scrape the white part.
Serve the compote as a dessert on biscuits, toast, etc.
