How about a different jam? Try it !


  • 2 kg of ripe and firm tomatoes
  • 2 kg of sugar
  • ½ tablespoon lemon zest
  • ¼ cup (tea) lemon juice
  • ½ kg of apples

Preparation Mode

  1. Clean the tomatoes, dry them and cut them into pieces.
  2. Peel, cut the apples into thin slices and cover them with a mixture of water and lemon juice. Reserve.
  3. Place the tomatoes in a medium saucepan, add the sugar, zest and lemon juice described in the recipe ingredients.
  4. Place over low heat and cook until all the liquid has reduced and the jam begins to thicken.
  5. Drain the apples, add them to the pan and cook for approximately 30 minutes.
  6. Remove and transfer the jam to sterilized refractory jars.

Mom Tips

When shaving the lemon peel; do not scrape the white part.

Serve the compote as a dessert on biscuits, toast, etc.
