“NAt this moment we know of 18 dead and 13 injured. Information continues to arrive”, wrote the mayor of Donetsk, on his Telegram account.

The information previously released by the leader of the Donetsk region, Denís Pushilin, was 13 dead and 10 injured, following the attack that he characterized as “monstrous” on the market located in Tekstilshchik, which is a dozen kilometers from the front line , that is, within range of Ukrainian artillery.

The attack on Donetsk comes at a time of intensified fighting on the Ukrainian eastern front, where Russian troops have made some progress in recent days, according to the American think tank Institute for War Studies ((ISW, its acronym in English).

Russia guarantees that it has led actions on all fronts, while Ukraine declares that it maintains an “active defense” that has stopped the advances of Moscow’s troops

The Russian military offensive on Ukrainian territory, launched on February 24, 2022, plunged Europe into what is considered the most serious security crisis since the Second World War (1939-1945).

Ukraine’s Western allies have supplied weapons to Kiev and approved successive sanctions packages against Russian interests to try to diminish Moscow’s ability to finance the war effort.
