Relatives of hostages in Gaza invade Israeli parliament

UA group of family members of hostages kidnapped in Gaza invaded a session of the Israeli parliamentary committee this Monday, demanding that lawmakers do more to try to free their loved ones, Reuters reports.

Around 20 people took part in the manifesto, which takes place in the 4th month of war.

A woman held photographs of three family members, who were among the 253 people abducted in Hamas’ cross-border rampage on October 7.

“I would like to have at least one of them back alive, one of the three,” shouted the woman.

Others shouted phrases such as “You can’t sit here while they are dying” or “free them now”.

On Sunday night, the families of the hostages set up a tent in Jerusalem and promised to remain there in protest until the Government led by Benjamin Netanyahu reaches an agreement to release the kidnapped people who still remain in the Gaza Strip, a Palestinian enclave controlled by the group Palestinian Islamist Hamas since 2007.

The hostages’ families have intensified their protests in recent days, demanding that the Israeli government “do more” to release the Hamas prisoners.

The current war between Israel and Hamas was triggered by an unprecedented attack by the Islamist group in the south of Israeli territory, which killed around 1,200 people and took more than 200 hostages (of which more than 100 remain in Gaza), on September 7. October.

In retaliation, Israel promised to annihilate Hamas and launched an air and land offensive that has caused a high level of destruction of infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli offensive has already killed more than 25,000 people in the Gaza Strip and injured more than 60,000, according to the most recent figures released by the authorities in the enclave, controlled by Hamas.
