Dani Alves was sentenced to more than 4 years in prison for abusing a young woman

The Barcelona Court sentenced the footballer Dani Alves to 4 and a half years in prison for raping a young woman in the bathroom of a booth at the Sutton nightclub on the night of December 30, 2022, forcing the will of the victim “with the use of violence,” the ruling stated.

In the sentence, notified this Thursday, February 22, section 21 of the Court sentenced Dani Alves, who has already been in preventive detention for a little over a year, for the crime of sexual assault. four and a half years in prison, five of supervised release and nine of removal from the victim, whom he must compensate with 150,000 euros.

In the trial, which took place between February 5 and 7, the Prosecutor’s Office requested 9 years in prison for Alves and the private prosecution, 12.

The court, which applied the mitigating circumstance of repairing the damage, concluded that it has been proven that Dani Alves “suddenly grabbed” the victim, threw her to the ground and, preventing her from moving, raped her, “despite the fact that the complainant said no, that she wanted to leave”.

According to the Court, “for the existence of sexual assault it is not necessary that physical injuries occur, nor that there be evidence of heroic opposition on the part of the victim to having sexual relations.”
