UA car plowed into a crowd in Szczecin, northwest Poland, this Friday, leaving at least 17 people seriously injured.
Two of them are in critical condition, according to Polskie Radio.
The car ran over a group of people who were crossing the street on a pedestrian crossing in the city center at around 3pm (local time). Three of the injured are children.
The driver, a 33-year-old man, tried to escape but was already detained.
According to the newspaper Gazeta, after fleeing the man collided with four cars.

“We have an incident with currently 17 people injured, including three minors and two in critical condition. The person who caused the accident has been detained”said Governor Adam Rudawski, quoted by Agence France-Presse.

According to the Szczecin police spokeswoman to Fakt, the hypothesis of a terrorist act has been ruled out.
“It was not a terrorist act, the driver is a Polish citizen”, he emphasized.
