The gingerbread house cannot be missing at Christmas, especially for those who have children at home. They love it and can even help make it! Be sure to check out the recipe tips.

Ingredients

  • 625 grams of wheat flour
  • 175 grams of honey
  • 65 grams of unsalted butter
  • 65 grams of molasses
  • 1 tablespoon ginger powder
  • 1 and ½ tablespoon of baking soda
  • 1 ovo
  • 2 excited

Ingredients to Decorate

  • 250 grams of fondant
  • Royal icing
  • Confectionery to taste
  • Icing sugar (optional)

Preparation Mode

  1. Grease a large pan and set aside.
  2. In a pan, heat the butter, molasses and honey until the butter melts.
  3. In a bowl, sift the flour, baking soda and ginger.
  4. Add the egg, yolks to the butter and incorporate this mixture into the dry ingredients.
  5. Form a dough.
  6. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
  8. After this time, roll out the dough on a smooth, floured surface.
  9. For the roof, cut 2 rectangles measuring 15 cm x 11 cm.
  10. For the sides of the house, cut 2 rectangles measuring 14 cm x 8 cm.
  11. For the front and back of the house, cut 2 14 cm squares.
  12. Cut the top of each piece into a triangle shape.
  13. If you prefer, you can choose another format of your choice.
  14. Cut the holes for the doors and windows.
  15. Place in the pan and bake for approximately 12 minutes, until it starts to darken at the edges.
  16. Remove and place on a wire rack to cool.

Preparation Method Decoration

  1. Place the royal icing in a piping bag fitted with a simple fine tip.
  2. Spread frosting over a cake platter.
  3. Attach the walls of the house to the tray, using icing to “glue” the parts together.
  4. Spread frosting around the top edges to hold the roof together.
  5. Wait to dry for no minimum 2 hours.
  6. After this time, knead and open the fondant. Reserve.
  7. Cover the roof with a little frosting.
  8. Cover the roof with fondant
  9. Decorate the door, windows and walls and, if you prefer, make snow fall from the roof with royal icing.
  10. Decorate the house with candy.
  11. You can sprinkle powdered sugar all over the house and around it.
