According to the local press, the initiative came about on radio 3FM, as a way of supporting the 26-year-old artist, who was disqualified, according to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), “following threatening behavior directed at a woman of the production team”.
However, broadcaster Avrotros, from the Netherlands, assured that he made “a threatening movement” towards “the camera”, but “did not touch the woman”.
The station also indicated that it “consulted extensively” with the UER and “proposed several solutions”, but the decision to disqualify the artist was made anyway.
A radio 3FM broadcasts ‘Europapa’ during its broadcast in Nijkerk, Weesp, Groningen, Oldenzaal, Venlo, Leiden, Bussum, Elburg, Hasselt, Hattem, Eindhoven, Gorinchem, Vlissingen, Meppel, Andel and Doetinchem.

Joost Klein represented the Netherlands with ‘Europapa’, a song that is an ode to Europe and a world without borders, as well as a tribute to his parents who died when the singer was a teenager.
According to data revealed in the early hours of Saturday, ‘Europapa’ reached second place in the second semi-final of the event, which took place on Thursday, behind only Israel.
