Notes on the Bayern debacle: Sané committed, thankless debut for Kane

Bitter start to the season for FC Bayern: Bayern lost 3-0 in the Supercup against cup winners RB Leipzig and showed major weaknesses on the defensive. Harry Kane makes his debut in the second half.

The individual criticism of the AZ

SVEN ULREICH – NOTE 3: Bayern’s number one – as long as Neuer is injured and no new keeper is signed. Had to stretch after Kimmich lost the ball to parry Openda (2nd minute). No chance at Olmos 0:1 from close range (3rd). Not flawless with the ball at his feet. Tunneled by Olmo at 0:2. Parried strongly against Sesko (88th).

Defense is totally beside itself

BENJAMIN PAVARD – NOTE 5 : The Frenchman still wants to join Manchester United. But this time initially asked as a Bavarian right-back. Got a yellow card after a foul on Olmo (13′), was late a few times. Offensively reserved. Substituted at halftime.

DAYOT UPAMECANO – NOTE 4: Somewhat surprising in the starting lineup, newcomer Kim initially sat outside. Failed to provide stability alongside de Ligt. But a little better than the Dutchman.

MATTHIJS DE LIGT – NOTE 5: Bayern’s defense chief on his 24th birthday with hard work. Looking really, really bad before going 2-0 as he was back-heeled by Olmo. Not a nice evening for de Ligt. Stayed in the dressing room at half-time.

ALPHONSO DAVIES – NOTE 5: Set on the left side of defense of Munich. Had his problems with Leipzig’s Simons. Not as noticeable up front as usual. Too many simple mistakes. Must increase.

JOSHUA KIMMICH – NOTE 4: Unfortunate start for the third Bayern captain, who wore the armband this time. The ball bounced off his heel before Olmo made it 0-1. Couldn’t get the game under control in the centre.

KONRAD LAIMER – GRADE 5 : Currently ahead of Goretzka in the internal ranking of eight. Of course, particularly motivated against ex-club Leipzig, strong in central midfield. But often too late in the duels and without momentum going forward. In this form, no gain for Bayern. Substituted by Tuchel at half-time.

Committed Sané also helps out at the back

LEROY SANÉ – NOTE 3: The Germany international was given preference over Coman and stormed down the right flank. Very committed, also helped out diligently at the back. Tried it again and again with crosses and dribbles. Another one of the better ones. Shot just wide of the goal after a nice solo (48th).

JAMAL MUSIALA – NOTE 4 : Bet at Tuchel as a ten. Had a difficult position in the center, hardly ever came dangerously into the penalty area. Shot over the goal with a direct acceptance (58th).

SERGE GNABRY – NOTE 3: Bayern’s left winger had a free shot in front of Blaswich after a Kimmich pass, but the goalkeeper made a safe save (10′). Just like Sané with a lively appearance. Involved in almost every attack. The only thing missing was luck in the end.

MATHYS TEL – NOTE 5: Tuchel trusts him, the 18-year-old Frenchman was allowed to start. Had a huge chance right away, but failed after Gnabry’s pass at Blaswich in the RB goal (16th). Tel aimed too central. Then he shot over the goal (24th). Blaswich later parried again against Tel (60th).

MIN-JAE KIM – NOTE 3: Substituted for de Ligt at the break. Proper appearance of the South Korean, without mistakes.

NOUSSAIR MAZRAOUI – NOTE 4: The Moroccan replaced Pavard (46′) and immediately put more pressure down the right flank. But then with the blackout: Caused the penalty with his handball in front of Olmos 0:3 (68th). Headed next to the goal (82nd).

Thankless debut for Harry Kane

KINGSLEY COMAN – NOTE 4: Tuchel brought on the French for Laimer (46th) to strengthen the offensive. Blaswich parried his right-footed shot (75′). Without fortune.

HARRY KANE – OHNE NOTE: Celebrated with chants from the fans, in the 63rd minute Tuchel brought him into the game: Kane’s first game for Bayern, a thankless one. Only got a few useful passes from his colleagues, without a big scene in the penalty area. In training he will now get used to his new teammates.

LEON GORETZKA – WITHOUT NOTE: Currently only a noble joker at Bayern, he came on late for Kimmich (78th) and took over the captain’s armband. The game was already lost by then.
