The traditional Austrian dessert that Brazilians really appreciate is not difficult to make and the result is excellent!
Ingredients
- 1 package of frozen puff pastry
- 1 cup raisins (tea)
- 2 tablespoons of rum
- 6 apples, peeled and seeded
- Zest of the peel of 1 lemon
- 1 lemon juice
- 1 cup (tea) breadcrumbs
- ½ cup softened butter
- 1 and ½ cup (tea) sugar
- ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder
- Oil
Preparation Mode
- Grease a baking tray and set aside.
- Place the unrumed grapes. Reserve.
- In a frying pan, stirring constantly, melt half the butter, add the breadcrumbs and toast for 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat, add ½ cup (tea) of sugar, cinnamon and mix. Reserve.
- Mix the rest of the sugar, with the raisins, juice and lemon zest.
- Chop the apples into medium-sized pieces.
- Sprinkle the apple with the sugar mixture and raisins; shake well.
- Let it rest until the sugar dissolves.
- On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry into a ½ cm thick rectangle.
- Spread the breadcrumbs over the dough leaving a 2 cm border around it.
- Distribute pieces of the remaining butter over the breadcrumbs and distribute the apple on top.
- Roll up the dough, pinching the edges well.
- Brush with olive oil and transfer to the baking dish.
- Bake at high temperature for approximately 20 minutes or until it browns a little.
Mom Tips
You can serve Apfelstrudel while still hot, accompanied by ice cream or whipped cream.
