The traditional Austrian dessert that Brazilians really appreciate is not difficult to make and the result is excellent!

Ingredients

  • 1 package of frozen puff pastry
  • 1 cup raisins (tea)
  • 2 tablespoons of rum
  • 6 apples, peeled and seeded
  • Zest of the peel of 1 lemon
  • 1 lemon juice
  • 1 cup (tea) breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup softened butter
  • 1 and ½ cup (tea) sugar
  • ½ teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • Oil

Preparation Mode

  1. Grease a baking tray and set aside.
  2. Place the unrumed grapes. Reserve.
  3. In a frying pan, stirring constantly, melt half the butter, add the breadcrumbs and toast for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat, add ½ cup (tea) of sugar, cinnamon and mix. Reserve.
  5. Mix the rest of the sugar, with the raisins, juice and lemon zest.
  6. Chop the apples into medium-sized pieces.
  7. Sprinkle the apple with the sugar mixture and raisins; shake well.
  8. Let it rest until the sugar dissolves.
  9. On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry into a ½ cm thick rectangle.
  10. Spread the breadcrumbs over the dough leaving a 2 cm border around it.
  11. Distribute pieces of the remaining butter over the breadcrumbs and distribute the apple on top.
  12. Roll up the dough, pinching the edges well.
  13. Brush with olive oil and transfer to the baking dish.
  14. Bake at high temperature for approximately 20 minutes or until it browns a little.

Mom Tips

You can serve Apfelstrudel while still hot, accompanied by ice cream or whipped cream.
