O Airport in the city of Hamburg, in northern Germany, was closed to passengers and flights were suspended this Saturday night, after a car passed through security and entered the premises.

The German federal police, cited by the DPA agency, revealed that an armed man had broken a door with his vehicle and fired twice into the air. Authorities also realized that the man’s wife had previously contacted them about a possible abduction of a child.

Several local German media outlets also reported that the man had two children inside the car.

Federal police spokesman Thomas Gerbert told DPA that a large number of state and federal police agents were at the scene and in the vicinity of the vehicle.
