O A senior leader of the Palestinian armed group was identified as Nasser Yakob Jaber Nasser and, according to Israeli forces, was “responsible for financing a significant part of Hamas’ military activities” in the city of Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip, next to the border with Egypt.

According to a statement from the Israeli forces, last December, Nasser managed to transfer thousands of dollars to Hamas that allowed the movement to carry out military activities, although the Islamist group has not yet commented or confirmed the information.

In the same statement, the Israeli army said that the military also managed to eliminate a certain number of “terrorists and destroy terrorist infrastructure” in the Shujayea neighborhood of Gaza City.

“Troops carried out an attack aimed at a Hamas outpost used for training exercises. Following the attack, an Israeli air force plane attacked and destroyed the post,” said the same source.

Hamas attacked Israeli territory on October 7, 2023, killing around 1,200 people and a further 240 being kidnapped.

In response, the Israeli army launched an offensive against the Gaza Strip which, to date, has caused more than 33,500 deaths, according to Hamas-controlled Gaza authorities.

According to Palestinian authorities, around 450 Palestinians were also killed in the West Bank and East Jerusalem by Israeli security forces and in settler attacks.

According to Tel Aviv, the ongoing conflict has also resulted in the deaths of more than 260 Israeli soldiers and several hundred injuries.
