“Based on the samples and tests carried out on the wreckage and parts of the helicopter, the way they were dispersed and the distances between the components separated from the main body, an in-flight explosion caused by sabotage was excluded,” stated the General Staff of the Armed Forces, according to the Mehr news agency.

The military also found no evidence of “electronic warfare” against the plane, in which, in addition to Raisi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and six other passengers were traveling in the northeastern province of East Azerbaijan.

Furthermore, “no defect was detected in the maintenance or repair records of the helicopter” – a US Bell 212 -, the number of occupants was within recommended limits and the pilots reported nothing unusual in their communications that lasted up to 69 seconds before the accident.

The army, however, said it is still investigating the meteorological situation and that this data will be made public later.
