PAt least two people – including an opposition politician – were detained during and after Alexei Navalny’s funeral in Moscow, according to the BBC.

Arrests were also made in the cities of Ekaterinburg and Novosibirsk.

Russian authorities have not yet commented on this information.

Alexei Navalny’s funeral ceremonies took place this Friday in Moscow, Russia, and were marked by a flood of thousands of supporters and a lot of emotion in farewell to the Russian opponent.

Thousands of people gathered outside the church of the Icon of the Mother of God and, later, at the Borisovskoye cemetery, where he was buried at 4pm local time (1pm in mainland Portugal).

The ceremonies were marked by shouts for freedom, shouts against Russian President Vladimir Putin, lots of applause for Navalny and visible emotion from family, friends and even supporters.
