“AThe news from the hospital (…) in Gaza adds horror to the tragedy that has been unfolding before our eyes for days”, highlighted Borrell, via the social network X (formerly Twitter).

The head of European diplomacy argued that “responsibility for this crime must be clearly established and the perpetrators must be held accountable.”

And he regretted that, “once again, innocent civilians pay the highest price.”

The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, stressed today that “an attack against civilians does not comply with international law”.

The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, avoided evaluating the attack, claiming that she needed to confirm what had happened.

The Gaza Strip’s Ministry of Health, run by the Hamas movement, said today that at least 500 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a hospital where civilians were injured and seeking shelter.

The Israeli Army, in turn, attributed the attack that hit a hospital in Gaza to the Palestinian organization Islamic Jihad and which, according to the Islamist movement Hamas, caused 500 deaths.

“According to intelligence information, based on various sources we obtained, Islamic Jihad is responsible for the failed rocket attack that hit the hospital,” the Israeli Army highlighted in a statement.

Islamic Jihad is another armed Islamist organization present in the Gaza Strip, which is also the target of Israeli bombings in Palestinian territory in the war between Israel and Hamas.

The Palestinian Authority and the Arab League and countries such as Egypt, Turkey, Jordan and Oman condemned the attack, generally attributing responsibility to Israel and urging the Jewish State to end the attacks on Gaza.

In the Gaza Strip, the conflict between the Jewish State and the enclave’s militias that began on October 7 has already caused at least 3,000 deaths among the Palestinian population, according to data from the Ministry of Health, which refers to more than 12,500 injuries.

In the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces have already killed at least 50 Palestinians, in addition to hundreds of injuries and at least 200 arrests.

The surprise attack by Hamas on October 7th caused more than 1,400 deaths in Israel, most of them civilians.
