There are many variations of this recipe and one of them will definitely win you over! Whether it’s called cat’s ear, underwear, grôstoli, crostoli, cavaquinho or something else. Try our suggestions!


  • 4 cups (tea) of wheat flour
  • 1 cup (tea) sugar
  • 1 cup of milk (tea)
  • 3 tablespoons of butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • Cinnamon and sugar for sprinkling

Preparation Mode

  1. In a large bowl, mix the first six ingredients.
  2. Knead and knead the dough well to the point where it can be stretched with a rolling pin.
  3. Form a ball, wrap it with plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes in the fridge.
  4. Remove from the refrigerator and onto a smooth, floured surface; stretch the dough.
  5. Cut into small rectangles.
  6. Make a cut in the middle of each rectangle and pass the dough through the cut.
  7. Fry in very hot oil.
  8. Remove and place on paper towel.
  9. Then, place it on a platter and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
  10. Serve.

Mom Tips

Butter can be replaced with margarine.

When stretching the dough: thin dough, crispy result. Thick dough, resulting in soft cat ears.
