Dough Ingredients

  • 300 grams of self-raising wheat flour
  • 4 tablespoons of cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon full of baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 300 grams of sugar
  • 300 grams of softened unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 tablespoons of milk
  • 5 large eggs
  • Cherries (optional)
  • Chocolate balls (optional)

Filling Ingredients

  • 300 ml of cream
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • Vanilla extract drops

Ingredients 1st Option Chocolate Cream Coverage

  • 150 ml fresh cream
  • 120 grams of chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons of butter

Ingredients 2nd Option Covering

  • 2 large bars of milk chocolate
  • 50 grams of unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • 100 grams of icing sugar

Dough Preparation Method

  1. Lightly grease two square pans or 3 small round pans with butter.
  2. Line the bottom of the molds with baking paper.
  3. Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
  4. In a bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa and baking soda.
  5. Using a mixer, beat the butter and 300 grams of sugar until light and fluffy.
  6. Add the dry ingredients, extract, milk, eggs and beat until the mixture is fluffy and homogeneous.
  7. Distribute the dough into the molds and level the surface with a spatula.
  8. Bake for approximately 35 minutes.
  9. Remove and leave the cakes in the pans for 5 minutes.
  10. Turn them out onto a wire rack.

Filling preparation method

  1. Using a mixer, beat all ingredients until soft peaks form.

Preparation Method 1st Option Chocolate Cream Coverage

  1. In a refractory place the chocolate and cream.
  2. Place in a bain-marie, stirring constantly, until the chocolate melts and the cream becomes velvety and shiny.
  3. Remove from heat and add the butter and stir well.
  4. Let cool.

Preparation Method Coverage 2nd Option

  1. In a bain-marie, melt the chocolate with the butter and water.
  2. Gradually add the icing sugar, stirring until it reaches the consistency of a thick porridge.
  3. Using a spatula, completely cover the cake.

Assembly

  1. Cover the surface of each cake with equal amounts of filling.
  2. Mount one cake on top of another.
  3. Choose the topping of your choice and cover the cake.
  4. Decorate to taste.

Mom Tips

In good supermarkets you can find chocolate balls to decorate the cake and, in refrigerated shelves, fresh milk cream sold in 500-gram plastic bottles. It is also found in 1-liter long-life boxes.

If you prefer, replace chocolate balls with chocolate shavings.
