DTwo French aid workers died in a Russian attack in the Kherson region of Ukraine, the French government confirmed this Friday. Emmanuel Macron described the attack as a “cowardly act” by Russia.

On social network X, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs. Stéphane Séjourné also reported three injuries.

“Russian barbarism targets civilians in Ukraine. Two French aid workers paid with their lives for their involvement with the Ukrainian people, three were injured,” the official wrote.

“My thoughts are with them and their families. France stands by their side. Russia will have to answer for its crimes,” he added.

French President Emmanuel Macron has also reacted and spoken of a “cowardly and outrageous act”.

“Two French aid workers were killed in Ukraine by a Russian attack. A cowardly and outrageous act. My thoughts are with their injured families and comrades. My solidarity goes out to all the volunteers who are committed to helping people,” he posted on the same social network.

It should be noted that, on Thursday, via Telegram, the governor of Kherson, Oleksandr Prokudin, had announced the death of two French citizens, in an attack on the city of Beryslav, which is on the western bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson. Furthermore, he also said that three foreigners and one Ukrainian had suffered minor injuries.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian national police announced the opening of an investigation into “violations of the laws of war”.
