O Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that foreign businesspeople want to continue working in Russia this Friday in an interview with the media outlet RBC on the sidelines of the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

“Foreign businesspeople who continue to work in our markets are present here [no SPIEF]and this is very important”, highlighted Peskov, adding that they try “not to give interviews for understandable reasons”.

According to the Kremlin spokesman, businesspeople “are concerned about unbridled pressure from their governments.” “But they are here and they have plans to work here”, he further highlighted.

It should be remembered that Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed, this Friday, the growth of Russia’s economy, which he said was at a rate above the world average, despite the sanctions imposed on the country due to the war in Ukraine.

“Last year, GDP growth [Produto Interno Bruto] in Russia it was 3.6% and in the first quarter of this year it was 5.4%. In other words, the growth rate exceeds the world average”, Putin said at SPIEF.
