Grandmother died after learning of her granddaughter’s femicide: they were buried next to each other

A Mexican family experiences a double tragedy due to a feminicide: A grandmother died after hearing the news of her granddaughter’s murder inside a motel.

The victim of the femicide was identified as Melany Guadarrama, 23 years old. First reports from the authorities indicate that the young woman entered the motel in the company of a man, who hours later left the place and did not return.

According to Mexican media, The motel staff would have discovered Melany’s lifeless body with injuries to her head and neck.

The establishment has security cameras and the videos are being analyzed by case investigators to determine who committed the crime.

The victim’s grandmother could not resist the news

After learning of the disappearance and murder of Melany Guadarrama, her grandmother could not bear to receive the news and died of a heart attack, leaving the family in mourning for the second time.

Last Monday, February 19, 2024, Melany and her grandmother were buried next to each other.

Residents of Xonacatlán, the municipality where the feminicide occurred, marched to demand justice from the authorities for the murder of the 23-year-old girl.

One of the people who was at the demonstration said that “although Melany’s family did not want to demonstrate, they did not want to say what really happened, as a community we are worried, because like who tells us that later it can’t be a cousin or a sister?
