With the arrival of Festas Juninas, a cornmeal cake cannot be missed! Do you prefer it plain or ice cream with syrup?


  • 1 and ½ cup (tea) wheat flour
  • 2/3 cup (tea) cornmeal
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter
  • 2/3 cup (tea) milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder

Syrup Ingredients (optional)

  • 1 glass of coconut milk
  • 1 can of condensed milk

Preparation Mode

  1. Grease and flour the pan. Reserve.
  2. In a blender, blend the liquid ingredients for the dough.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients, lastly the yeast.
  4. Beat until you obtain a homogeneous mass.
  5. Pour the dough into the pan and bake in a medium oven for 35 minutes or until golden.
  6. Remove from the oven.
  7. Mix the syrup ingredients and set aside.
  8. Pierce the cake with the help of a fork.
  9. Pour the syrup over the cake.
  10. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

Mom Tips

Shape: you can use the shape with a hole in the middle, the shape of an English cake or the shape of your choice.

The glass of coconut milk is 200 ml.
