This sandwich is a bestseller, much appreciated in bars and pubs and always present at Festa Junina. This classic and juicy sandwich is everyone’s favorite. Delicious!
Shredded Ham Ingredients
- 1.5 kg bone-in shank
- Salt to taste
- 1 onion in pieces
- 2 garlic cloves
- ½ cup (tea) of green scent
- 1 cup (tea) of water
- ½ cup (tea) white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon of chili pepper
- 1 bay leaf
Additional Ingredients
- 400 grams of sliced mozzarella cheese (optional)
- 12 French breads
- 4 sliced onions
- 4 tablespoons of olive oil
Preparation Mode
- Preheat the oven to high temperature.
- In the Blender, blend the water, vinegar, onion, garlic, green chilli, pepper, bay leaf until obtaining a marinade.
- Place the ham on a large platter, pour over the sauce and let rest in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, turning halfway through.
- Remove from the marinade and place on a baking tray.
- Coe at marinada and reserve.
- Season the ham with salt and bake on high for 40 minutes, basting from time to time with the strained marinade.
- After forty minutes, cover with aluminum foil and bake for another 30 minutes in a medium oven.
- Remove, let cool and shred the shank.
- Heat a large frying pan with the olive oil and sauté the onion for 5 minutes over medium heat.
- Add the shredded ham and sauté for another 5 minutes.
- Open the buns in half and fill with the stew.
- Add the mozzarella and bake in a medium oven until the cheese melts.
- Remove and serve immediately.
Mom Tips
If you prefer, you can buy a piece of boneless ham.
