This recipe is very popular and worth trying. There are savory roulades and sweet roulades. There are no limits to the choice of fillings. Ideal for parties and snacks.

Dough Ingredients

  • 2 tablets of fresh organic yeast
  • 1 cup (tea) of warm water
  • ½ cup of beer at room temperature
  • 4 tablespoons of oil
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 5 cups (tea) of wheat flour
  • 1 beaten egg for brushing

Filling Ingredients

  • 250 grams of mozzarella cheese
  • 250 grams of coarsely grated ham
  • Oregano to taste

Preparation Mode

  1. Grease a large baking dish and set aside.
  2. In a blender, blend the yeast, water, beer, oil, sugar and salt.
  3. Add 1 and ½ cups (tea) of wheat flour and beat again.
  4. Place the mixture in a bowl, cover and let it rest for 20 minutes or until it rises and bubbles form.
  5. Transfer to a smooth, floured surface and add the rest of the flour.
  6. Keep kneading little by little until you get a soft, slightly sticky dough.
  7. Make a ball, cover and let it rest for 40 minutes or until it doubles in volume.
  8. Divide the dough into portions.
  9. Using a rolling pin, roll out each portion on a floured surface, forming rectangles.
  10. On each piece/portion, spread the cheese, ham, sprinkle with oregano and roll up like a roulade.
  11. Transfer the roulades to the baking dish, cover and let rest for 20 minutes.
  12. Preheat the oven to medium temperature.
  13. Brush the rolls with the egg and sprinkle with oregano.
  14. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden.
  15. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Mom Tips

Two yeast tablets: 30 grams.

When rolling out the dough, you can cut it into up to 10 rectangles. If you prefer, you can make smaller rectangles.

You can decorate the roulades with another ingredient of your choice.
