At least 14 people died and 31 more were injured after a truck overturned this Sunday morning, April 28, in the municipality of Malinalco.in the central State of Mexico, reported the State Security Secretariat (SSEM).

The authorities specified that the accident occurred on the Capulín-Chalma highway, in the area of ​​Guarda de Guerrero.
According to the information, The bus was traveling with passengers from San Luis de la Paz, in the state of Guanajuato and, according to some local media, they were heading to the Sanctuary of Chalma, in the State of Mexico, when the bus lost two tires and overturned.

Medical units from the municipalities of Tenancingo, Zumpahuacán, Tenango del Valle and Toluca went to the scene of the accident to provide immediate attention to the victims.

The Chalma Sanctuary is the third most popular tourist destination in the State of Mexico, which, during Holy Week alone, receives more than 30,000 people.

Pilgrims from different parts of the country travel kilometers on foot, some even barefoot, as an act of penance and sacrifice, with the sole objective of having contact with this divine figure, revered for its supposed healing power and miracles.
