Ingredients

  • 1 cup (tea) wheat flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal (tea)
  • 1 cup sweetener (tea)
  • 2 cups of skimmed milk
  • 2 tablespoons sunflower oil
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds (optional)
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 dessert spoon of baking powder

Preparation Mode

  1. Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
  2. Grease a baking tray and set aside.
  3. Using a mixer, beat the egg whites and reserve them in another bowl.
  4. In the mixing bowl, place the egg yolks, flour, cornmeal, sweetener, yeast, milk and oil.
  5. Beat well.
  6. Add the fennel, the egg whites and stir gently with the help of a wooden spoon.
  7. Place the dough in the pan.
  8. Bake for approximately 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out dry.

Mom Tips

Use a sweetener that replaces sugar without needing conversion calculation tables.

Sunflower oil can be replaced with the oil of your choice.

The original cake is made with fennel, but some people don’t like it and, therefore, it is listed as an optional ingredient.
