A Spanish Guardia Civil rescued a man who was kidnapped for two days in an apartment in Calpe, Alicante, thanks to a video call.

According to the authorities revealed in a statement, Spanish guards managed to identify the man’s whereabouts thanks to a video call that the kidnappers made with his girlfriend, demanding that he pay a ransom of 100 thousand euros.

During the call, it was possible to identify details of the apartment where the 24-year-old man was staying and, from there, the Guardia Civil ended up discovering where the property was located, rescuing the man in an operation that culminated in the arrest of the five kidnappers.

Of these five, three were in the apartment at the time of the police action and two others were located minutes later, in a van in the neighborhood of the property.

Several bladed weapons were also seized.

The five detainees were placed under judicial custody and granted probation, accused of kidnapping.
