“O EU support for Ukraine does not waver, as does our pressure on the Russian regime”wrote Charles Michel, on the social network X (formerly Twitter), reacting to the approval of the 13th package of sanctions against Russia.

The European Union (EU) today reached an agreement on the 13th package of sanctions against Russia over the invasion of Ukraine, which imposes restrictions on a further 106 people and 88 organizations, particularly in the defense sector.

The sanctions approved by the 27 member states impose restrictions on people and organizations “responsible for weakening and threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence” of Ukraine.

According to the information released, the 13th package has as its “primary target the military and defense sectors, and associated individuals, including those involved in supplying weapons from North Korea to Russia, as well as judicial officials, mayors and people responsible for the illegal deportation and military re-education of Ukrainian children”.

Some of the entities responsible for “direct support to the Russian industrial and military complex” are located in India, Sri Lanka, China, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Thailand and Turkey, which have “helped Russia circumvent trade restrictions” to acquire components of it needs to continue investing in the military campaign against Ukraine.

Since the start of the Russian invasion, the EU has included “more than 2,000 people and entities” responsible for fueling the conflict.
