Lidl is one of the favorite brands of the French because of its affordable products. For bread lovers, this German brand can be an excellent option to treat yourself at a lower cost. In addition to the traditional baguette, the hot spot section offers a fairly wide range of special breads, among which Noémie Combremon, nutritionist, particularly recommends one of them, as she explains in a video on his Instagram account.
“Wholemeal bread contains less sugar and more fiber than white bread“, explains Noémie Combremon. By retaining the outer layers of the grain, it contains more nutrients, often eliminated during the refining process to produce white bread. We find there in particular B vitamins, minerals such as iron, magnesium and zinc, as well as antioxidants. It provides a feeling of satiety, which is perfect for avoiding snacking in the morning, for example, if consumed at breakfast.
Another advantage is its much longer shelf life than white bread which hardens quickly. To always have some available, Noémie has her little tip. Cut several slices and place them in an airtight container (or a bag, that works too) which you store in the refrigerator or even the freezer. This way it will keep much longer. The only downside is that it can soften due to humidity. However, simply toast it briefly in the toaster or oven to give it a little crispiness again.
