A Spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, criticized NATO this Wednesday, accusing the Alliance of planning and “coordinating” the supply of weapons to Ukraine, thus showing its openness to “involvement directly” in the conflict.
“In the midst of supply problems on the part of the United States and the European Union, the Alliance is, in fact, determined to take on the role of coordinating the supply of weapons to the Zelensky regime. It appears that NATO is very open about its direct involvement in the conflict”the diplomat shot, according to the Russian state agency TASS.
It should be noted that, also today, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg acknowledged that the military situation in Ukraine is “extremely difficult”, but considered the efforts “worth billions of euros” to support -there.
Stoltenberg defended, however, the support that continues to be provided by the countries of the political-military alliance to Ukraine, which “in recent days announced support packages worth billions of dollars, including weapons and military equipment”.
The invasion of Ukraine took place on February 24, 2022. Yesterday, the president of Ukraine warned that the delay in weapons deliveries from Western allies is opening the door for advances on the battlefield by Russian forces and making the Ukrainians’ fight “very difficult”.
European countries are struggling to find enough weapons reserves to send to Kyiv, and US aid worth $60 billion is stalled due to political differences in the US Congress. The impasse appears to be working in Russia’s favor.
